Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to the Congress ESTIV2008, the 15th International Congress on In Vitro Toxicology which will be held in a unique environment in the Stockholm archipelago, Sweden, September 25-28, 2008. The congress is a joint venture organised by ESTIV (European Society of Toxicology In Vitro), SSCT (Scandinavian Society for Cell Toxicology) and Expertrådet ECB Environmental Competence Ltd.
We are happy to inform you, that the interest for developing and using non-animal (in vitro) methods for toxicity testing has increased the last couple of years and the former INVITOX, held every second year, have been upgraded to ESTIV Congress, since “workshop” does no longer properly describe the size of these meetings. INVITOX Workshops have had an outstanding tradition of bringing together junior and senior researchers, involved in the development and use of in vitro methods and the ESTIV Congress will continue to do that.

Dear Colleagues, Dear Students
The Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Abel Salazar and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, Portugal, are offering a Master on Environmental Contamination and Toxicology. Participants may be colleagues having a first degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or any other area within life sciences. Therefore, I am asking your cooperation in the dissemination of the Master among potentially interested students.
Spanish students will be most welcome! Lectures will be in Portuguese, Spanish, “Portunhol” (a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish) or English according the language of the participants. More detailed information is enclosed in a pdf file, sorry for being in Portuguese.
The submission of applications starts at the beginning of June and can be performed by internet (website: www.icbas.up.pt).
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer grants. However, we can help in getting funding support (recommendation letters) from national or international organizations.
Looking forward hearing from you,
Lúcia Guilhermino
Full Professor of the
